Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to book?

No. You can self-refer directly without seeing a GP first. Referrals from GPs and other health professionals are also accepted, but they are not required.

Can I claim a Medicare rebate?

No. Sessions are not currently Medicare rebated. If Medicare access is important to you, your GP can advise on eligible practitioners in your area.

Can I claim with my private health insurance?

Some private health funds cover counselling under extras cover (often up to around 20% of the session fee), but this varies by insurer and policy. Please check directly with your health fund before your session to confirm what you can claim and what details (e.g. provider qualifications, item numbers) they need on your receipt.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies from person to person. Some people find short-term support helpful — as few as four to six sessions around a specific issue. Others choose longer-term counselling. The number of sessions is never fixed in advance and is reviewed as you go.

What if I am not sure where to start?

You are welcome to get in touch before booking if you have a question about which type of counselling might suit your situation. There is no pressure to have everything figured out before getting in touch.

Why is the initial consultation a different price?

The initial consultation is priced slightly higher to reflect the additional time and care involved in understanding your situation, covering practical information about the process, and establishing a clear direction for your sessions.

How do I pay?

Payments are processed securely via Stripe at the time of booking. You do not need to pay in person during the session.

What is the cancellation policy?

A minimum of 24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations may incur a fee. Please get in touch as early as possible if your circumstances change.
